Steve Hadley and Mark Lightcap from Acetone reunite for a couple of tracks on Hadley’s new project Bee Pieces. Acetone were a short-lived but hugely influential band from Los Angeles in the 90s who made spacious, soothing music that drifted airily around delicate grooves and gentle vocals. After the tragic suicide of bassist Richie Lee, the remaining members have regrouped only hand full of times; 'Dorothy’s On Island Time' is an instrumental meander that retains Acetone’s lightness with different arrangement, the addition of pianos and synths adding a layer that fills out the sound without ever crowding, Lightcap’s guitar work is very distinctive and the pair play in a responsive way that you would expect from old bandmates reunited. -Toby Evans-Jesra
